About Our Founder

terolyn horse rescue
Jim, Ryann and Teri

Terolyn Horse Rescue began as the dream of our founder, Teri Allen. Teri has been rescuing and rehoming horses on her own for more than 30. The formation of the 501(c)(3) organization in 2015 allows her to rescue even more horses with the help of volunteers and your tax-deductible donations.

With a lifelong passion for horses, and drawing on her depth of equine knowledge and education – along with her decades of experience as a horse trainer and her intuitive connection with horses – Teri provides the expert, individualized care every horse deserves.

As a child living in Alaska with her family, Teri rescued and fell in love with her first horse, Honey. When they moved back to Colorado, Teri was unwilling to leave Honey behind, so the family arranged for The Flying Tigers to transport Honey and their other horse Beau – a first for everyone involved. Until that time, horses were transported in and out of Alaska in cargo ship holds or hauled over the Alcan Highway.

Teri attended high school in Parker and college at CSU in Fort Collins, graduating with a degree in Animal Science. For the past 30 years she owned and operated Terolyn Training, where she trained countless horses, offered riding lessons, and rescued horses and lots of other animals, of all shapes and sizes, that needed a home.
