Success Stories

Little did I know that the first time I went to the feed lot with Teri, would lead to owning my very first horse. We picked up three mares that day. One that would become my future heart horse. Our little Morgan mixed pony, Joy, had a period of time when she had a sore hip and would lay down a lot. I felt bad that I couldn’t get her out while she healed so I would go lay down with her and we would snuggle. I had been working with Joy for about 6 months, getting her to a good adoptable point in her training. I had so much fun teaching her young mind new ways to use her body and respond to cues. She was so smart and willing to please. I became very proud of my work with her but most importantly proud of the horse she was growing up to be. Teri told me that someone was interested in her and asked me to show Joy to the interested party. Upon hearing that, my heart sunk a bit unlike it had for any of the other rescues I had shown. A very nice woman came to try her out and felt like she was a cool horse but wasn’t totally sold on her. In my mind, I thought, “Are you kidding me!? This horse is so phenomenal for a 3 yrs old. Unless someone is head over heels for her, then they can’t have her.” It was at that moment that I realized no one would ever be good enough to call Joy theirs because in my heart, she had already chosen me, and I had already chosen her.  ~ Jax

Zac is an awesome, well trained, very handsome gelding!  I haul him to various riding trails to pleasure ride & enjoy the beauty of Colorado with my new best friend!  I’m also working with him to see if him & I can possibly be a good team for “Team Roping”!  I’m very excited to have many years of enjoyment with this very fine Horse & I thank Teri from the bottom of my heart for this opportunity to have & love Zac!  Thank you for the rescue of Zac, which happened to be on my birthday, which tells me in one out of many ways Zac & I were meant to be together!  He needed me as much as I needed him!!  ~Rene

I feel so incredibly blessed to be Tyson’s owner. He was rescued by Teri Jacobsen Allen in late September 2016. Teri has such a big heart and it’s very rare that she rescues just one horse at a time (every horse needs a trailer buddy, right? ?). Tyson saved himself that day when he quietly came over and moved himself right over to the fence Teri was sitting on and allowed her to just hop right on his back. There are so many incredible and amazing horses that need to be rescued.  If you’re ever in the market for a horse, please consider adopting a rescue. Tyson is the best horse I’ve ever owned! ~ Andi

I wanted to update you on Silky (promise to send pics when she sheds out!).  She has turned out to be one of the very best horses I have ever had;  as you recall she was very sick  when she arrived and  it took about 6 weeks for the cough to clear.  She allowed me to give her the shots the Vet recommended without any fuss.  She  has the best  manners and  is  very well broke;  we can even trim her feet without a halter on, she stands perfectly still. She does very well in the  herd, never causes any trouble. Whomever spotted her at the feedlot, sure has a good eye.  I am so glad you called to see if I could foster her;  and very glad you allowed me to adopt her, she will have a forever home here. ~ Linnea

Meet Ben, a beautiful, smart, curious and very sweet bay gelding who will greet you from his pen when you first come to our barn. Seeing him in person, you would never believe that he once stood on a lot waiting to be shipped to slaughter.
However, when Teri saw him, she immediately recognized his potential. Funds were raised to save him and bring him to our rescue. When I met him, I instantly fell in love. Was I ready to be a horse owner? No. I’ve been a rider on and off my whole life and always had the “horse bug”. You know what I am talking about. Once you have the horse bug, you can never get rid of it. I first fostered Ben and a few months later I officially adopted him. Our journey has thus begun. Ben has been teaching me all about horse ownership and training and I promised him I would be HIS human.
Teri has been guiding me in the process and I rely on her expertise to help me with everything that horse ownership entails. I am forever grateful for having had the opportunity to adopt my beautiful boy and cannot wait to see what future has in store for us. ~ Dagmar

About Sampson: My grandmother (Lois) told me about the killers. Makes me sick what “people” can do. They’re family. End of story. We love him to pieces already and I’m looking forward to taking Sampson and Aidan (4 years old) on trail rides, once he is old enough and skilled enough to do so safely. I’m thrilled you want to share our story/emails, please do so as we are strong advocates of adoption and love happy endings. ~ Christine

My name is Kayla, I am the current and forever owner of Milla (formally named Holly), the Morgan mare. I heard about you guys through my friends aunt. I read the story of the Christmas miracle rescue and how she seemed to have been a diamond in the rough. I thought I would share with you some pictures of her new home. She is doing great and without you guys I would not have such an amazing first horse. So for that, I thank you! ~ Kayla
